In winning the eighth stage of the Dauphiné, with Ekoï shoes on, Carlos claimed his second victory of the season for his British team, after his Tour du Pays Basque win.
With 6 kilometres to go, the team's strategy began to take shape. Belgian, Laurens de Plus accelerated and the leading group fell apart under the relentless pace. With Primoz Roglic on his own, Carlos Rodriguez took the opportunity to attack. Only Matteo Jorgenson could follow.
The young and very promising Spanish rider won the duel at the summit of the Plateau des Glières.
Declaration of the winner:"I thank my teammates who sacrificed themselves from the start. We had a plan and they did it to perfection, giving everything. And I'm happy to have been able to make it happen."
